    4-week session

Online classes are scheduled for Eastern Time. A Zoom link will be emailed to you 24 hours before the start of the first class. Please make sure we have your correct email address! Pre-registration deadline for the second fall session of this class is October 19th.

This 60 minute class invites students to come into deeper awareness of their bodies, with a movement experience that fosters grounding, release, and energy flow. Drawing from somatic practices such as Bartenieff Fundamentals and Polarity Yoga, Kieran will lead a restorative and enlivening class, with guided exercises and improvisations done lying on the floor, sitting, standing, and moving through space (however possible in your Zoom room!). This class is like a moving meditation that offers a gentle “reset” for your body and mind. No experience is needed. Join us!

Each class in this series will be recorded and made available to students for one week, before the next class.

      Sept 16 - Oct 7 and

Come back to class, and experience the energy and connection of dancing together! This is a sean-nós dance class for students with at least 6-12 months of prior experience. We will review our shared repertoire of rhythm, in a joyful and supportive group setting! We’ll explore commonly danced patterns in jigs and reels, while touching on other types of tunes as well. This class will emphasize the live experience of trading rhythms, finding our ease with improvisation, and dancing steps in unison.

The goal of this class is to welcome more students into the international community of people who dance this very unique body of steps.

Song-Stepping: Choreography with Sean-nós Dance (online via Zoom)

    6-week session

Online classes are scheduled for Eastern Time. A Zoom link will be emailed to you 24 hours before the start of the first class. Please make sure we have your correct email address! Pre-registration deadline is September 6th.

In this 6 week class, sean-nós dancers will be guided through a creative process of choreographing steps to a song. That’s right — a “song” with lyrics — not an instrumental “tune.” (Check out this example here!) Each student will be invited to choose a song that he/she/they would like to create a dance to, and class time will be spent workshopping and sharing composition ideas together. At the end of the class, each student will have a unique party piece which can be performed for each other on Zoom, or taken out to the world! This class is best suited for sean-nós dancers with experience who are comfortable putting a few steps together and sharing informally in front of the class.

Each class in this series will be recorded and made available to students for one week, before the next class.

    • Tuesdays
      Sept 14 - Oct 19
    • 6:00 - 7:15 pm
