We welcome back our Irish friend, guest artist Michael Tubridy who will lead us in the old-style steps passed down from County Clare dancers Dan Furey and James Keane. Don’t miss this night of steps, sets, informal performances, potluck food and fellowship.

  • New students – try a class! Your first class is completely free!
  • 5 class card: $85
  • 10 class card: $160
  • single class: $18 if paid online or $20 if paid in person
  • Class cards may be purchased here online, or in person with cash or checks (payable to Kieran Jordan Dance). Class cards purchased online will be given to students in class.
  • 10-class cards are valid for 4 months and 5-class cards are valid for 2 months from date of purchase. No refunds will be given, however, the class card may be transferred to another student if necessary.

Classes need a minimum of six students in order to run.

Continuing Sean-nós Dance in Cambridge

Sean-nós (“old style”) Irish dance is a joyful expression of movement and sound. Considered to be one of the earliest forms of Irish dancing, sean-nós is an improvised solo style, which includes footwork danced close-to-the-floor, a relaxed upper body, and a playful dialogue between the dance and the music. This class will focus on musicality, improvisation, building a repertoire of traditional and original steps, and developing a confident personal style. Prior experience is required. Please bring a notebook or recording device and shoes with a shoes with a smooth hard sole.

Beginner 2 / Intermediate Irish Step Dance in Cambridge

This technique class is offered for students with at least two years of recent step dancing experience. Students will learn group set and céilí dances, and lively solo dances including jigs, reels, hornpipes, and solo sets. This class will focus on improving form, strength, speed, and musicality in the traditional old style. Please bring a notebook or recording device and Irish dance soft and hard shoes to class. Intermediate / Advanced Irish Step Dance in Cambridge

This class is offered for dancers with at least five years of recent step dancing experience. It will provide a lively and supportive atmosphere for improving stamina, musicality, clean footwork, and a confident performing presence in the traditional old style. Students will learn group set and céilí dances, and lively solo dances including jigs, reels, hornpipes, and solo sets, as well as original choreography from the Kieran Jordan Dance company. Please bring a notebook or recording device and Irish dance soft and hard shoes to class.

NEW! THE IRISH DANCE WORKSHOP in Cambridge

This new class will feature special topics in Irish dance — for example, a particular regional style, or a specific body of steps — for several weeks at a time. This class is open to step dancers at all levels who want to focus on one aspect of Irish dance at a time and come away with a complete piece of repertoire. Please bring a notebook or recording device and shoes with a smooth hard sole.

This class offers a fun and encouraging atmosphere for anyone who wants to learn the popular rhythms of sean-nós dance. Students will focus on learning basic steps, connecting the footwork to traditional Irish music, building a repertoire of traditional and original steps, and developing a confident personal style. New dancers as well as returning students are welcome. Please bring a notebook or recording device and shoes with a smooth hard sole.
