Weekly Classes In the Boston Area

  • New students – try a class! Your first class is completely free!
  • 5 class card: $85
  • 10 class card: $160
  • single class: $18 if paid online or $20 if paid in person
  • Class cards may be purchased here online, or in person with cash or checks (payable to Kieran Jordan Dance). Class cards purchased online will be given to students in class.
  • Class cards are valid for 6 months from date of purchase. No refunds will be given, however, the class card may be transferred to another student if necessary.

Classes need a minimum of six students in order to run.

Summer classes will be taught on alternating weeks by instructors Kieran Jordan, Rebecca McGowan, and Hannah Pelton.

NEW FOR SUMMER! INTRODUCTION TO IRISH DANCE in Cambridge

For total beginners, this class will introduce adult students to the history, traditions, and technique of Irish dance, with a focus on Irish set dancing (group social dances) and step dancing (solo dances). Students will learn to identify the timing and rhythm of Irish dance tunes (such as jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas) and will embody the music while learning beginner footwork and patterns for each type of dance. This class provides a fun and supportive community for everyone who has wanted to try Irish dance. Please wear light-weight sneakers or smooth hard-soled shoes to class. Minimum of eight students required.

Beginner Sean-nós Dance in Cambridge

Sean-nós (“old style”) Irish dance is a joyful expression of movement and sound. Considered to be one of the earliest forms of Irish dancing, sean-nós is an improvised solo style, which includes footwork danced close-to-the-floor, a relaxed upper body, and a playful dialogue between the dance and the music. This class is an introduction to sean-nós dance for adult beginners and continuing students. It offers a creative and encouraging atmosphere for anyone who wants to dance the basic rhythms and footwork in this now hugely popular improvisational style. Please wear shoes with a smooth hard sole.

Continuing Sean-nós Dance in Cambridge

This class will focus on musicality, improvisation, building a repertoire of traditional and original steps, and developing a confident personal style. Prior experience is required. Please wear shoes with a smooth hard sole.

Beginner 2 / Intermediate Irish Step Dance in Cambridge

This technique class is offered for students with at least one-two years of recent step dancing experience. Students will learn lively soft shoe and hard shoe dances, including reels, jigs, hornpipes, and solo set dances, with a focus on improving form, strength, speed, and musicality in traditional Irish step dance. Please bring Irish dance soft shoes and hard shoes to class.

Intermediate / Advanced Irish Step Dance in Cambridge

This technique class is offered for dancers with at least five years of recent step dancing experience. It will provide a rigorous and supportive atmosphere for improving stamina, speed, musicality, clean footwork, and a confident performing presence in traditional Irish step dance. Students are encouraged to bring their own questions, goals, or favorite steps to the group. Please bring Irish dance soft shoes and hard shoes to class.
